Joyce DiDonato and Antonio Pappano recital

4 June 2018
Main Stage

The world-famous mezzo-soprano performs in recital on the Royal Opera House main stage, accompanied on the piano by Antonio Pappano.

When to see it

Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato is one of the best-loved and most-admired artists performing today. Her versatile, incredibly agile voice has been acclaimed in repertory from bel canto to the contemporary – while her dynamic stage presence and nuanced, intuitive characterizations have made her one of opera’s definitive singing actors. Since her Royal Opera debut in 2003 DiDonato has sung roles including Elena (La donna del lago), Maria Stuarda and Charlotte (Werther). She now makes her debut solo recital at Covent Garden.

DiDonato sings regularly for the world’s leading concert halls, with her performances including at the 2013 Last Night of the Proms. Her many recital albums include the Grammy Award-winning Joyce and Tony: Live at Wigmore Hall, in concert with The Royal Opera’s Music Director Antonio Pappano – who joins DiDonato again onstage in this special event at the Royal Opera House.
