Choreographer and director Sarah Fahie made her Royal Opera debut reviving Linda Dobell’s movement for Eugene Onegin in 2008. She has subsequently worked as movement director for The Gambler, Il tabarro, Suor Angelica and 4.48 Psychosis, and on the revivals of Rigoletto and Gianni Schicchi, and as revival director for Il tabarro and Suor Angelica. In the 2018/19 Season she directs the movement for Katya Kabanova.
Fahie was born in Australia and studied at the University of Melbourne. She went on to train as a dancer at the London Contemporary Dance School. In 2003 she received a Jerwood Foundation Choreography Award. Movement credits include Peter Grimes (La Scala, Milan), Rodelinda and Don Giovanni (English National Opera and Bolshoi Theatre), Der Rosenkavalier (Glyndebourne Festival), Rumpelstiltskin (Birmingham Contemporary Music Group), Don Giovanni (Bergen National Opera), Capriccio (Grange Park Opera), Hänsel und Gretel, Semele and The Skating Rink (Garsington Opera), Aida (Royal Albert Hall), La traviata and La bohème (Opera Holland Park), The Bartered Bride (Mid Wales Opera), Don Giovanni (Northern Ireland Opera) and, in theatre, The Trial (Young Vic).
Fahie’s credits as revival director include Falstaff for Glyndebourne Festival and Rumpelstiltskin for Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, and as choreographer for numerous opera productions for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
