Noa Naamat



Israeli director Noa Naamat joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the start of the 2017/18 Season. In the 2017/18 Season she directs the Jette Parker Young Artists Summer Performance on the main stage and assists the directors of La Tragédie de Carmen (Wilton’s Music Hall), Cavalleria rusticana/Pagliacci, Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria (Roundhouse) and Tosca.

Naamat holds an MA in Directing from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and previously studied Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, as well as History of Opera and Italian Studies at the Accademia Europea di Firenze. Directorial credits include Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore and Don Giovanni for Arezzo Opera Festival, La Voix humaine for Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar and Salieri’s Prima la musica e poi le parole at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has also staged opera scenes and galas for festivals in Arezzo and Lucca. In 2018 she made her American debut at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music directing Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto.

Naamat has also worked as assistant director for companies including Rome Opera, Vienna State Opera, Scottish Opera, Israeli Opera, Lismore Opera Festival and Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar. She was the apprentice director at Lyric Opera Studio Weimar and at Oberlin’s Summer Opera Program in Italy. She won the Bayreuth Bursary Award and has held an Accademia Europea dell’Opera Assistant Director Fellowship and a stage director residency at Shakespeare’s Globe, where she directed scenes from The Merchant of Venice on the Globe stage.
