Italian bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni made his debut with The Royal Opera in the 2013/14 Season as Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro). In the 2018/19 Season he sings Escamillo (Carmen) for The Royal Opera.

Pisaroni was born in Venezuela in 1975. His family moved back to Italy when he was four, and he was raised in Busseto. Pisaroni was introduced to opera by his grandfather, and as a child decided he would become an opera singer. He studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, in Buenos Aires, and New York, and made his stage debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2002, singing Masetto in Don Giovanni under Harnoncourt. His career includes performances at La Scala, Milan, Paris Opéra, Teatro Real, Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Berlin State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Vienna State Opera, and the Salzburg Festival. His repertory includes Figaro and Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Leporello and Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Don Pizarro (Fidelio), Mustafà (L’italiana in Algeri), Maometto II, Enrico VIII (Anna Bolena), Count Rodolfo (La sonnambula), Sir Giorgio (I puritani), the Four Villains (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Méphistophélès (Faust), and Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisande).

Concert appearances include performances of orchestrated Schubert songs with the Filarmonica della Scala under Luisi, Missa Solemnis at the Barbican under Tilson-Thomas, Verdi’s Requiem with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra under Herreweghe, and Argante (Rinaldo) on tour with The English Concert. Recordings include Leporello (Don Giovanni) and Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) for Deutsche Grammophon.
