Community Chorus

The 120-strong Royal Opera House Thurrock Community Chorus is a much loved group of Thurrock residents and workers who come together to sing and to perform. It is drawn from a very diverse range of people, young and old, with a variety of experience and knowledge. It sings an ambitious and diverse repertory, often performing pieces in the original language, both in Thurrock and at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The Chorus is friendly, committed and each member is passionate about singing, and it now needs some new deeper voices to join its ranks.

The Thurrock Community Chorus holds recruitment twice during the year: the next taster sessions open to new members will take place on Monday 7th and 14th January 2019.

Any men or women with lower voices who live, work, study or volunteer in or around Thurrock are most welcome to attend and find out more. The lower age limit is eight years but there is no upper limit. Women who are sopranos or altos interested in joining will be admitted in the Autumn, as the Chorus cannot accommodate any upper voices at this point.

The free taster sessions will take place at Palmer’s College, Chadwell Road, Grays RM17 5TD, starting at 7.15pm.

  • No previous singing experience is required – the chorus is open to all
  • There is no audition
  • There is no requirement to sing alone or to read music

Please register your interest in attending by emailing getinvolved@roh.org.uk or by calling 01708 891 200.

If you enjoy the taster sessions, we hope you'll join the Chorus at our weekly rehearsals.
